• I am a part-time electronics tinkerer with musical equipment (I used to be a bench technician decades ago). I noticed that there are two significant companies that sell good Boss Heavy Metal HM-2 distortion pedal 'clones' as kits (in kit form): 1) 'The Swede' by BYOC (at www.buildyourownclone.com), and 2) 'Graviton' by Aion (at www.aionelectronics.com).
• The Boss MT-2 is a bit of a modern classic, but also pretty controversial. Many players buy them but they aren’t known for sounding great. So by emulating them as a plug-in, Mercuriall Audio has taken on an interesting distortion circuit. This new MT-A plugin is available for PC and Mac in VST/AU/AAX formats.
