Reason 9.5 Free Vst
Well, as we learned with 9.5, I suppose anything is eventually possible. That said, I doubt it will happen for the reasons already stated. Also, AU is actually VST in a wrapper, so it wouldn't make sense for Reason to go through the hassle when the vast majority are all VST anyway. Well, whatever the weather in the nether, from Reason 9.5, we can use VST plug-ins in Reason! I’ve generally been in favour of the Props’ decision to keep Reason a hermetically sealed environment, but it had been getting increasingly frustrating not being able to use other tools like Maschine and Komplete, MPC and favourite VST effects when.
This update to Reason adds support for VST. Now you can add VST plug-ins to the Reason Rack, where they will be right at home. The creative flow you know and love, coupled with any plugin you want.
Reason 9.5
The music-making software with everything you need to create amazing music. Reason is easy to get started with, yet as deep as you want it to be. Create, compose, mix and finish your music – Reason will help you along the journey, from inspiration to mixdown.
With Reason 9.5 adding VST support many music producers will be able to work as they do on other platforms and it will make it easier for new users of Reason to quickly get up to speed. One downside here though is that Reason 9.5 will support VST 2.4 but not the newer VST 3.0. By default, Reason 9.5/10 and Reason Essentials 9.5/10 look for installed VST (2.4, 64-bit) plugins in the following locations: Under.
- The combination of Reason’s unique mode of operation and VST support will be a major change and will surely find more and more followers. VST plugins will be available in Reason 9.5 directly in the Reason rack (found in the new Plugin Rack Device), by simply drag the installed VST into the virtual rack.
- Propellerhead Reason 9.5 is the latest update to the legendary Reason software series, with one of the most requested features now included – VST support. The added support for VST plugins makes Reason 9.5 one of the most versatile DAWs on the market.
- Propellerheads finally allow 3rd party VST plugins into the Reason production environment with the introduction of Reason 9.5.

Propellerhead Reason 9.5 is out! Finally, this highly anticipated update including the addition of the probably most wanted feature is available to all! A full month of asking beta testers questions and speculating about the future of the Rack Extension format can be put to rest for some time while we all test out the capabilities of Reason 9.5.
And what an update.
Obviously the inclusion of VST is the biggest of all the new features – We now even have VST offerings in the shop. However, Plugin Delay Compensation (click for an explanation) or PDC is also a major improvement, a feature that has been at the very top of the most-wanted features for me personally. With the release of Reason 9.5, VST effects and instruments for some of the biggest players has entered the shop, like Waves, u-he, iZotope, and Synapse – And as expected, Xfer Records Serum is available as well.
It is now also possible to export device remote info on a selected device through the file menu. Our forum user Catblack has started a thread dedicated for gathering these remote informations to create a central repository for your remote map creating needs. Contribute here!
We had the privilege of hosting the official beta test forum for Reason 9.5. The forum is now available for the public, making it possible to search for posts from people having the same issues as you during the beta test (if any). As Mattias Häggström mentioned during the Propellerhead live-stream of Reason 9.5 and it’s features, [paraphrase] “there will be issues with some controllers and some VST’s. VST is a 3rd party implementation adhering to 3rd party standards outside the scope of Reason’s own SDK. Since it would be close to impossible to ensure a 1:1 support of every single VST out there, be a good user and report all issues you might find to Propellerhead”
The Reason 9.5 is a free update for all users with a Reason 9 license. You will receive an notification in Reason the next time you launch it. Otherwise, navigate to the “Help” menu and click “Check for updates”.
